Power Theory was formed in 2006 by guitarist Bob “BB” Ballinger. The band blends traditional 80s heavy metal and NWOBHM with modern power metal, drawing influence from bands like Judas Priest, Saxon, and Iron Maiden.

After a turbulent early lineup, the band solidified its roster in 2007 and began performing live. In 2009, they released their debut EP “Metal Forever,” followed by their first full album, “Out Of The Ashes, Into The Fire” in 2010, which led to an international distribution deal and gigs with bands like Accept and Kreator.

In 2012, the band released “An Axe To Grind” and expanded its lineup to include a second guitarist and a new vocalist and bassist for more dynamic material. Soon after those changes, they headed out on the road in the States as part of the Metal Masters Tour, opening the show for Seven Witches and Vicious Rumors.

Their third album, “Driven By Fear” was released in 2015 and earned critical acclaim. They continued to grow their fanbase with extensive live shows, including appearances in Europe and the U.S. In 2017, they released an EP, Something Old, Something New, and Something F**king Live from Europe, while working on their next album.

More lineup changes were in store, and in 2019 a new album, “Force of Will,” was released, which received widespread praise and became their biggest achievement to date. Shows followed with Cloven Hoof, A Pale Horse Called Death and The Ross the Boss Band before being derailed by covid.

During the layover, the band updated to its current lineup…BB on guitar and Alan D’Angelo on bass have been the two mainstays of the band since 2013. They’re joined by London Fowler on guitar, Brian David on vocals, and Dan Prestup on drums. Work has begun on the upcoming album, “Unsinkable,” and three shows with U.D.O. gave them a jumpstart on live shows.

With multiple performances in 15 states across America and three European trips under their belts and another European trip upcoming this fall, Power Theory is a well oiled machine poised to bring even more metal to the masses.
